>What do you guys think I should ask for ($ wise). As a way of determining a "fair price" for rental, comparing the rental price for horns of similar value is a reasonable approach. If the horn is in good condition (fully playable, no quirks), it is probably similar in value to a bassoon or a bass oboe (and probably half way between in terms of rarity). Forrest's Music (Berkeley, CA) rents bassoons out for $55 to $125 per month (when they have them in stock), and their bass oboe for $200/week (or $475 per month). Factor in that Forrest's is a professional shop in the SF Bay area (I'm not sure how the prices compare with your area). On the other hand, you also have to consider the hassle to you if it returns needing adjustment (I'm assuming you don't do the adjustments yourself).
Best of luck!

Subject: [CB] CD ReviewLeo Bachmann has a solo tuba CD out, titled "Palette of Sounds" (2000
UNIT Records, UTR 4131), that I am really enjoying. The disc has 13
works, all composed by LB, and includes a number of modern techniques
(multiphonics, circular breathing, etc.). Experimental and
listenable, simultaneously ;-)Enjoy,
Grant

- most rental agencies require at least a three month minimum.
- included in your contract with them their responsibility to return it in good working order, or to replace it in the event of serious damage.

Subject: [CB] HELP! Musician Weight Training ProgramHi. I've been a lurker on this mailing list for quite a while, but the time
has come that I need to ask for a little help.I am a senior in high school and I am having to take a weight training
course to complete my graduation requirments. We have to come up with our
own program to fit our own needs. Here's my question:
Do any of you know what would be a good program for me? I am a BB-flat
Contrabass Clarinet player and it would be nice to strengthen my lung
muscles and I don't want to do anything that will hinder my playing
abilities because my instrument is my life.PLEASE RESPOND ASAP if you can help!!!
Thank you so much!

Subject: Re: [CB] HELP! Musician Weight Training ProgramI do every morning 1 1/2 hours Yoga. There exist Asanas (exercises) for the
lungs, also for your spinal column and every other part of your body.
And I play Badminton for 2-3 times a week which is also great for the lungs.
If you have to train with weights I would recommend exercises for your back
and your stomach which are very important for the right breathing.Good luck,
Uli
