The recorders shown here are the great bass in C, and the contrabass
in F, made by Paetzold. Paetzold has also produced a bass in F and
a subcontrabass in C (two octaves below the tenor, equivalent to the contrabass
flute or the bassoon in range). These recorders are now distributed
in the US by the Boulder Early Music Shop
(800-499-1301). Dolmetsch is currently working on a series of enormous recorders, extending from Great Bass in C (range to down to C3 ) to a Sub-sub-contrabass recorder in F (two octaves lower than bass recorder, range to F1 ).
