You don't even mention Yamaha?! I've checked out their low C bass, and it kicks some serious butt. I also felt that the key layout for the extension was far better than any Selmer I've tried.
However, since the acquistion of a low C bass would cost serious coin, I'm going to have Steve Fox build a detachable C extension for my old Series 9 Selmer.
