Yep, that's the typical reed contrabass fingering system: one key per note. I've actually posted a fingering chart for the beast (for mine, at least) at http://www.contrabass.com/pages/anchefin.html .For reeds, I use the ever-popular great bass sordune reed (the same thing I use on the Eb contrabass sarrusophone). It seems to fit the bocal and range the best, though I really haven't tried much else.

Did anyone on contrabass-l make a tape of this CBC Canadian boradcast? If so I'd be very grateful for a copy. Come on all you Canadian members!

Winnipeg New Music Festival. The Winnipeg Symphony
Orchestra conducted by Bramwell Tovey performs the world
premiere of a new work for bass oboe, strings and harpsichord
by guest artist, British composer Gavin Bryars, as well as
works by Jarrett, Henze and Nyman. With Lawrence Cherney,
Stephen Sitarski, Erica Goodman, Bramwell Tovey.
