Subject: [CB] Stolen Selmer Low C Bass Clarinet Recently Purchased in Seattle Area

Hi everyone-

A few days ago, I was perusing Craigslist, and I came across a low C Selmer bass clarinet for $800. Serial number was E0969. Knowing this to be too good to be true, I did a web search and found that it belonged to Mt. San Jacinto college in California. I immediately called them and spoke to their police department, confirmed it was stolen, and they contacted Seattle police. I was trying to string the seller along until the police could get their act together, but they didn't act fast enough and the clarinet was sold to someone else. (Apparently they have enough people to hand out speeding tickets, but no one to go recover a stolen $7500 musical instrument). If anyone knows who bought this clarinet, I'm sure the police and Mount San Jacinto college would love to hear about it with the dual hope of recovering the instrument and busting the persons responsible. Also, if anyone can forward this to the Clarinet list, that would be great. Cheers!

By the way, I meant busting the persons responsible for the theft. No one who mistakenly bought the instrument is in any kind of trouble.
