Subject: [CB] CD Review
Finally picked up a copy of "The Mummy Returns " soundtrack by Alan Silvestri (2001 Decca 440 013983-2), which includes Eppelshiem's new CC contrabass sarrusophone . I like the music - typically dramatic movie soundtrack stuff
- although the sarrusophone is not exactly featured. It is audible on a few tracks (I've noticed it briefly in tracks 3 and 7 so far), but the predominant instrumentation is French horn, trombone, and bass drum, with scattered solos of English horn. Bassoon seems to be sparingly used, but you can sometimes catch a hint the sarrusophone an octave lower. I think I need to take it home and crank up the home stereo...
Enjoy!
