Date: Sat, 2 Mar 2002 11:14:21 -0000I've just been to Opera North's production of Albert Herring, in Nottingham.
I like Britten's music, but haven't heard this work before. The band was on
stage. There is a wonderful duet, Alto Flute and Bass Clarinet - worth going
for that alone - which includes a beautiful altimissimo passage on the Bass. Now the low notes on my BBb paperclip are superb, but I do wish I had an
altissimo register - I can't get above D (register key only, plus the odd
key here or there, perhaps). Should I be able to get higher? any tips?John Kilpatrick - Sheffield

The article says only that he got interested in painting something for
Leblanc after seeing the Winter 1999 issue of the Bell magazine and
negotiated the trade through a "flurry of letters and emails." The Winter
2002 issue came out only recently, so it's been 3 years, and the delivery
could easily have been over a year ago. On a non-time-sensitive story like
this, it could easily have taken the editors a couple of years to run it, so
you're certainly right about the timing.Best regards.
