CDNow actually uses the AMG database for its information. The data
appears to be identical.Grant

I did: thanks! :-)
It might surprise you to know that I'm not the only patent attorney on the list, too...

Subject: [CB] Book Recomendation. Can anyone here recomend the book "Acoustical Aspects of Woodwind
Instruments" by Cornelis Johannes Nederveen? It's price of $28 seems a
little steep to me, so i was wondering how usefull it is. If anyone has this
book i'd love to hear more about it. thanks.

how woodwind instruments function, this is essential reading. The sections on
mouthpiece cavity matching to various instruments, and formulas for calculating
tone hole placement are invaluable. I saw a revised edition recently on Amazon
and snapped it up (although I haven't read it yet--it is packed away awaiting my
arrival in Brazil). It is very technical and requires much reading and re-reading
to really get to grips with the subject matter. It helped me a lot when I was
designing and making single reed mouthpieces for my sarrusophones.
